Bunbury’s Beaches and Waterways are unique and are split into 3 areas:-

  • The Indian Ocean
  • The Leschenault Estuary
  • The surrounding waterways

Back Beach

Great beach for a beach walk, swimming or surfing. Also a great spot to watch the dolphins or have a barbecue or picnic.

A highlight is the Backbeach Café and Restaurant. Relax and enjoy looking a meal or drink whilst overlooking the Indian Ocean. Fantastic views and very popular particularly for breakfast and lunch at weekends. Café style and sensational location. Highly Recommended stop-off.

The Bunbury Surf Life Saving Club is located at Back Beach. Car Parking is available.

Hollow Beach - Bunbury WA

Hungry Hollow Beach

Hungry Hollow Beach is just south of Back Beach, about 2 kilometers south of Bunbury CBD. Beach is peaceful and great for beach walks. There is a car park and lookout point. Picnic and barbecue facilities are provided.

Across the road you’ll find The Hollow Beach Bar and Grill. The location is stunning. You can sit outside whilst enjoying your meal and drinks and take in the stunning views across the Ocean. They have an extensive menu with starters, bar snacks and main courses. Kids menu and Seniors meal options are available. The fish and chips and Wild Yak beer is highly recommended.

Koombana Beach

Koombana Beach is just located just off Koombana Drive in central Bunbury overlooking the bay. Lovely beach which is safe and great for families, barbecues or picnics. Perfect for kids to play in the sand. It is not unusual to see dolphins in the bay. Plenty of parking and easy access to the beach for the kids.

The Hello Summer Beach Kiosk is on Koombana Beach facing the Ocean. It is recommended for coffees, burgers, fries, fish tacos, ice cream and hot and cold drinks.

Mindalong Beach

Mindalong Beach about 3 kilometres south of Bunbury CBD. It is a very secluded beach. Great for beach walks but often you’ll see very few people around. Awesome place to watch the sunsets and contemplate life. There is a picnic table and lookout over the ocean. Access is via a car park.

Dalyellup Beach

Dalyellup Beach about 5 kilometres south of Bunbury CBD in the south Bunbury suburb of Dalyellup. Many locals think this is one of the best, if not the best beach between Bunbury and Busselton. Great for walks watching the sunsets and boogie boarding. Also popular for fishing. Access is via a long wooden staircase and boardwalk. Car Parking is available. Also popular with 4WD drivers as you are allowed to take them onto the beach.

There is a local Surf Life Saving Club which operates at weekends and during the summer but they don’t have and club rooms yet. They operate out of containers.

Nearby is a Beach Park which is great for families and has barbecue/ picnic facilities and public toilets.
